Britney Spears will open the 2008 Video Music Awards, confirms MTV

“MTV has long played an important role in my career,” Britney says in a statement. “How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMA’s? I’m excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated.”

Although Brit Brit is kicking off this year’s VMAs, there will not be a performance. So what will it be? A surprise that should not to be missed!

Britney is nominated this year for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for “Piece of Me.”

The VMAs will air this Sunday, September 7th @ 9PM ET/PT on MTV.

Mel B Admits She Doesn't Talk to Victoria Beckham | Melanie Brown, Victoria Beckham Friendship never ends?

That’s not exactly true, admits Melanie Brown, who says she doesn’t speak regularly to her fellow Spice Girls. “We’re not in touch much,” she tells the new issue of British magazine Closer.

And that includes Victoria Beckham – even though the two former bandmates live just a few miles apart in Los Angeles.

“Victoria and I are very different,” Brown explains. “People bracket us together because we live in the same city and we’re both interested in fashion. Victoria’s fashion line has been very successful and hopefully mine will be too. But that’s where the similarities begin and end.”

The performer – who has appeared on Dancing with the Stars and is working on her own fashion line, Catty Couture – says her children are her main focus. (She is mom to daughters Phoenix Chi, 9, and Angel Iris, 1 – who was famously fathered by Eddie Murphy.)

“I love being at home with my family. My kids make me cry – in a good way,” said Brown, who’s married to music producer Stephen Belafonte. “I love it when they learn something new and it makes me shed a tear or two. I’d hate to miss out on any of that.”

LeAnn Rimes: 'We're Ready' for Baby | LeAnn Rimes With their anniversary fast approaching, LeAnn Rimes and Dean Sheremet knew just how to scratch their “seven-year itch”: with a party – and soon, perhaps, a baby.

The country star and her husband invited 30 of their closest friends to celebrate their upcoming seventh wedding anniversary – and Rimes’s 26th birthday on Aug. 28 – at the Calistoga Ranch in California’s Napa Valley.

“We wanted to remember how blessed we are, and how excited we still are about each other,” says Rimes, who was just 19 when she wed Sheremet, now 27, on Feb. 23, 2002. (They decided to celebrate early to take advantage of the warm weather and Rimes’s birthday.)

The three-day festivities culminated with a seven-course dinner and an evening of dancing on Saturday night.

“My ankles and my feet hurt because I was jumping around on the dance floor so much!” she says.

Looking ahead, the couple say they are eager to begin a new chapter of their lives together: parenthood.

“We’re ready, definitely,” says Rimes, adding that they’ve gotten some friendly nudging from their pal and new dad Keith Urban.

Says Rimes: “He’s encouraging us to start gettin’ on it!”

Sopranos Star James Gandolfini Gets Married | James Gandolfini James Gandolfini and fiancée Deborah Lin tied the knot Saturday in her hometown of Honolulu, Hawaii, a wedding guest confirms to PEOPLE.

“There was a nice big kiss at the end with both hands on the cheeks” as The Sopranos star and Lin officially became husband and wife, the guest tells PEOPLE. “They looked great.”

As a group of their closest friends and family looked on, Gandolfini, 46, and Lin, a former model, 40, exchanged their vows in an intimate ceremony surrounded by white lilies and rhododendrons adorning every pew held at Central Union Church.

According to the guest, Lin strolled down the aisle in a white gown made of Italian lace while her tuxedoed groom stood waiting as a harpist played the “Hawaiian Wedding Song” in the background.

Gandolfini’s son Michael, 8, from his first marriage to Marcy Wudarsk (which ended in 2002), served as best man.

Following the elegant 20-minute nuptials, the newlyweds stepped into a white stretch limousine bound for the evening reception at a nearby resort.

The couple made their first public appearance on the red carpet in March 2007 for the New York City premiere of the second half of the final season of The Sopranos and have been engaged since late 2007.

DMX Curses At Judge “I Aint Going Back To No F’n Jail”

A Miami judge incurred the wrath of rapper DMX by denying his bond this morning. DMX was arrested in Miami on August 14th on a warrant for failing to appear in a Phoenix court to face drug charges. Before that, he was arrested on multiple drug and traffic charges. DMX has remained in custody in Miami since the arrest because the Phoenix judge who issued the warrant revoked his bond. When Judge Lawrence Schwartz denied his bond, DMX responded by cursing out the judge who quipped, “Oh that just ingratiated you to me. I’ve never heard the “f’ word before so it’s okay.”

Nicole Perna tells People, “Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton have amicably ended their engagement. They appreciate your respect for their privacy in this matter.”
