Sarah Michelle Prinze and husband Freddie Prinze Jr. are parents, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.
The couple “welcomed their daughter Charlotte Grace Prinze on Saturday, Sept. 19,” says a rep for the actress. “The family is over the moon.”
This is the first child for the couple, who revealed that they were expecting back in April.
Freddie Prinze Jr. will star on the upcoming season of 24. Sarah Michelle recently changed her last name from Gellar to Prinze.
Patrick Swayze lost his battle with pancreatic cancer Monday. He was 57.
“Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months,” his rep tells PEOPLE in a statement.
A gifted dancer, a rugged outdoorsman, a romantic leading man and a loving husband, Swayze was also, as his brother Don put it, “a warrior” in his cancer fight. Appearing on Nightline, ABC’s Barbara Walters, who conducted one of the last in-depth interviews with the actor, reported that Swayze was with his wife, Lisa Niemi, and brother during his final hours at his ranch in the foothills of the San Gabriel mountains near Los Angeles.
“Patrick was a really good man, a funny man and one to whom I owe much that I can’t ever repay,” says Whoopi Goldberg, who starred with Swayze in one of his biggest movies, Ghost. “I believe in Ghost‘s message, so he’ll always be near.”
“Patrick lived a hundred lifetimes in one,” adds Rob Lowe, who appeared with Swayze in The Outsiders and Youngblood. “I will remember him for that, and I will remember him for how much he loved his wife Lisa. He was such an intense actor, so full of passion and vigor. He definitely made the most out of it. It’s a sad day.”
Swayze continued working on his A&E series The Beast even as he underwent chemotherapy – and never lost hope. About his prognosis, he did admit in the Barbara Walters interview that aired in January, “There’s a lot of fear here. Yeah, I’m scared. Yeah, I’m angry. Yeah, I’m [asking], ‘Why me?’ ”
A month before, Swayze had issued a statement to PEOPLE addressing speculation about his health, saying that such questions “cast a negative shadow on the positive and good fight I’m fighting.”
Christina Milian is pregnant with her first child, Usmagazine.com has confirmed.
The singer, 27, wed music producer The-Dream, 27, on Sept. 4 at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas. Us first reported their engagement two months ago.
“The pregnancy was a surprise, but they were getting married regardless,” a source tells Us.
Milian has already been talking about children.
“Of course, I would love to have kids,” she told Us earlier this summer at the premiere of Bring It On: Fight to the Finish in NYC. “I think that’s some of the reasons why I do movies like this.”
Even The-Dream (real name: Terius Hagert Youngdell Nash) — who proposed to Milian with a six-carat sparkler from Ivanka Trump‘s jewelry line — has been talking about a family.
“I love kids, and [Christina] loves kids probably more than I do,” he told Us in July. “She’ll make that time [to have a baby]. In the next couple of years, there’ll be something around.”
Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are the proud parents of a baby boy, PEOPLE confirms.
“In the middle of night, the very early hours of September 9, 2009, Sparrow James Midnight Madden was born to Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. He weighs 7 lbs. 14 oz. Nicole, Joel, Harlow and Sparrow are all doing well. Thank you for all of your good wishes,” the couple wrote on Richie’s Web site.
The newborn joins older sister Harlow Winter Kate Madden, born in January 2008.
“We’re very, very blessed,” Madden, 30, told PEOPLE on Aug. 6 of the approaching event. “We’ve already had one healthy kid, and that’s all you can ask for as a parent – healthy kids.”
Richie, 27, who’s enjoyed a new low-key lifestyle at home since the birth of Harlow, still keeps active with various business projects, including a maternity line for A Pea in the Pod and her House of Harlow 1960 jewelry line.
The couple also run the Richie Madden Children’s Foundation, which they launched in 2007 to provide grants to health-care and education nonprofits.
“I don’t think you can plan anything about having a child,” Richie told PEOPLE back in October 2008. “It’s something completely new, so you just have to go with whatever works for you. There’s a million different ways to be a mom.”
DJ AM has been found dead in his New York City apartment.
Det. Brian Sessa tells PEOPLE that at 5:20 p.m. on Friday New York Police Department officers entered an apartment on Lafayette Street in response to a 911 call about a man who hadn’t been seen for two days. Inside, they found the body of a white male in his 30s. Another police source confirmed to PEOPLE that the dead man was DJ AM.
The cause of death has not been released by the medical examiner, although N.Y.P.D. Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne said there was no apparent evidence of foul play. A police source said prescription drugs where found in the apartment.
Goldstein’s publicist released a statement Friday confirming the news of his death. “The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time,” the statement says.
DJ AM (real name: Adam Michael Goldstein) was 36. He narrowly escaped death in a 2008 jet crash with Blink 182’s Travis Barker.
“There’s no reason why I lived and they didn’t,” DJ AM said last month at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, referring to the others who died in the crash. “It’s something that I struggle with every day, you know, kind of wondering. But I’ve just realized I’m never really going to know. I’m alive, and I’m here, and I have another chance. So I have to do something better with my life this time.”
Making good on her expressed desire to have more children, Céline Dion is pregnant.
A family member tells PEOPLE, “We learned this morning.” While a rep for the 41-year-old singer confirmed the news to various outlets saying, “Celine and René are very happy,” and “They are crazy in love over the news … they are overjoyed.”
Herself the product of a family of 14, Dion only learned of her condition on Monday, reports Tuesday’s Journal de Montreal, after she and her husband, René Angélil, 67, conceived with the help of a team of fertility doctors in New York.
The couple’s one child together, son René-Charles, was born January 2001. The rep tells ET Canada that he “starts his first day of private school today.”
Angélil also has three other children from two previous marriages.
According to reports in the French language press, Dion, whose concert tour ended in March, took time off this spring to concentrate on becoming a mother again. She also visited the clinic of Dr. Zev Rosenwaks, the Manhattan-based fertility expert who helped with the birth of René-Charles.
Quoting a previous interview the newspaper had conducted with Angélil, the Journal reports that “everything hinges on the pregnancy” in terms of Dion’s future professional plans – and that a pregnancy now could conceivably delay the singer’s scheduled return to Las Vegas in fall 2010.
