After 14 years and two children together, Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis are saying goodbye.
“Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated,” the actor’s rep tells Us Weekly in a statement. “Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.”
Although they never wed, the Dark Shadows actor, 49, and the French singer-actress, 39, have been in a committed relationship since 1998, and share daughter Lily-Rose, 13, and son Jack, 10.
“I never found myself needing that piece of paper,” Depp explained in 2010 of their reluctance to wed. “Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don’t need somebody to say, okay you’re married.”
Calling Depp “the love of my life” in a 2010 interview, Paradis explained, “There is a lot of friendship between us, respect and admiration . . . I admire him as an actor, as a father, as a man. Above all, I admire the person he is. He’s fantastic.”
