“In a joint statement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months. After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation,” according to the rep.
“Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family,” the statement continued.
British actor Bloom, 36, and Australian-born Victoria’s Secret model Kerr, 30, made their first public appearance together in April 2008, at Sydney’s Doncaster Day at the Randwick Racecourse. That same weekend, the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean star also met her parents.
The couple quietly married in July 2010, and their son, Flynn, was born Jan. 6, 2011.
Kerr was photographed with Bloom on Sept. 19 at his Broadway opening of Romeo and Juliet, in which he stars with Condola Rashad.
“When I saw Orlando on Broadway in Romeo and Juliet, I was blown away,” Kerr is quoted as saying in the November Cosmopolitan. “For someone to be able to learn all that and hold the energy to do it every day, six days a week – I have so much respect for him. We don’t run lines though. We keep that very separate. That would be like me asking him to teach me how to catwalk.”
This year, Kerr also announced she and Victoria’s Secret would part ways, though professionally she would remain busy managing her Kora Organics beauty line and starring in Mango’s advertising campaign.
